I’m thinking of the happiest days of my life

It seems so long ago everything was all right

A friend whom I held so near

Who chased away all my fears

The shining faces of the kids running past

A million joyful memories fading so fast

But things aren’t the way they used to be

Sometimes I’m just drowning in the memory

Of the haunting smiles of a time long ago

That keep me thinking about how I love this life so

A colorful picture of life so clear

So many smiling faces, everywhere I look they’re near

A hug enclosing me with love

They said that God was with them sent from up above

And who knew it would never last?

A million joyful memories fading so fast

But things aren’t the way they used to be

Sometimes I’m just drowning in the memory

Of the haunting smiles of a time long ago

That keep me thinking about how I love that life so

When everything has to change in its own time

I’ll keep looking back on a time that was mine

A thousand smiling faces turned into tears

No one knew what we’d bring through the years

And I never knew that it wouldn’t last

A million joyful memories fading so fast

And things aren’t the way they used to be

Sometimes I’m drowning in the memory

And the haunting smiles of a time long ago

Keep me thinking about how I love that life so

And the haunting smiles of a time long ago

Keep me thinking about how I loved that life so.
