Robert Balch, Ph.D., is Professor of Sociology at The University of Montana.
His research includes field studies of Heaven's Gate, the Love Family, Aryan
Nations, the Church Universal and Triumphant, and other unconventional religious
movements. His work has appeared in various sociological journals and scholarly
books about religious cults.
