Peter Caws, Ph.D., is
University Professor of
Philosophy and Professor of
Human Sciences at the George
Washington University in
Washington DC. He has
degrees in physics (from
London) and in philosophy
(from Yale) and has
published widely in the
philosophy of science,
ethics, existentialism, and
structuralism, among other
things. He grew up in
England among the Exclusive
Brethren and his articles on
“Belief and Morals Among the
Taylorites” appeared in the
Evangelical Times in
the year 2000. .
His book Religious
Upbringing and the Costs of
Freedom: Personal and
Philosophical Essays
(edited with his student and
colleague Stefani Jones,
Ph.D.) has just (June 2010)
been published by the
Pennsylvania State
