William Chambers, Ph.D.
William Chambers,
Ph.D., died September 9, 2003 of heart problems associated with
renal failure. Dr. Chambers was the statistical expert behind the
development of ICSA's Group Psychological Abuse Scale (GPA). Dr.
Chambers was teaching at the University of South Florida when Dr.
Michael Langone sought his help to analyze data collected in a
survey sent to 308 former group members. Dr. Chambers gave hundreds
of hours of his time to this project, which has spawned many other
research studies, most recently the development and testing of a
Spanish version of the GPA.
Dr. Chambers was a statistical and research
consultant in Lindale, Georgia and former
psychology professor at Wright State University,
Shorter College, and the University of South
Florida. His specialty area was personality
theory. He received the John G. Clark award for
his invaluable contributions to the development
of the Group Psychological Abuse Scale.
