Sharon K. Farber, Ph.D.,
is in private practice in
Hastings-on-Hudson, NY, a NYC
suburb. She has taught at the Cape
Cod Institute, schools of social
work, medical schools, and training
institutes. She has been elected to
the National Academies of Practice
as a Distinguished Practitioner. She
is the author of When the Body Is
the Target: Self-Harm, Pain, and
Traumatic Attachments, in which she
wrote of self-harm in members of
cults. She is the author of several
journal articles and a book in
progress, and has received a writing
award. Her interest in cults
began thirty five years ago. when
she realized that her brother's mind
had been taken over by
Transcendental Meditation. She has
treated a number of people for
cult-related problems.
