Who We Are

FREE MINDS, INC. is a secular, non-profit group concerned with the phenomenon of psychological manipulation or undue influence. Free Minds was formed in Minneapolis in 1974 and was incorporated in Minnesota in 1976. For the past 25 years we have operated entirely on goodwill donations and volunteer effort. We have long-established connections with similar organizations around the world, as well as a stable history as the Midwest contact for cult awareness support and information. Free Minds is one of approximately 15 secular agencies of its kind in the United States.

Our Mission

To provide education and support to the affected families of victims of psychological manipulation. To act as a link to local, national and international resources for victims and their families. To educate the community at large about psychological manipulation methods and cults - especially youth, their parents, and the elderly, who are the most vulnerable targets of mind-control. To informally assist victims of mind-control in their recovery and entrance back into community.
