Father James LeBar

Father James LeBar passed away February 21st.  Father LeBar was a priest of the Archdiocese of New York, ordained in 1962, and  assigned in recent years as Chaplain of the Hudson River Psychiatric Center in Poughkeepsie, a post he held for almost 20 years.   In addition, he was the Consultant on Cults for the Archdiocese for more than 25 years, with a listing of OFFICE OF CULT AWARENESS in the Archdiocesan Directory.  He counseled many former cult members and was a frequent speaker on this subject in all aspects of media.  His book, Cults, Sects and the New Age  (Our Sunday Visitor , Huntington, Ind. 1989), co-authored with Fr. James McGuire and William Kent Burtner sold more than 25,000 copies.
