Cesar Mascareñas, M.D.

 

Cesar Mascareñas, M.D., is Professor in the Department of Post-Graduate Studies and Research at the School of Medicine, Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM), and Medical Director at the Research Center of the Christian Institute of Mexico.  He is a prolific author whose works are published regularly in scientific journals and books, covering the fields of Pediatrics, Clinical Medicine, and contemporary cultic phenomena. Recent research contributions include works for the Journal of Public Health (United Kingdom) and Revista de Investigación Clínica, (México). In 2004, he co-authored, among others, the clinical book Maltrato en Niños y Adolescentes (Loredo Abdalá, Ed.), including the Chapter, “Ritualismo: una forma compleja de maltrato”. Dr. Mascareñas is also Editor of the only scholarly book published, so far, about the controversial group known as the Legion of Christ. The multi-author work El Circulo del Poder y la Espiral del Silencio, was published by Random House in 2004, with an impressive Appendix containing rarely seen documents about the group.
