Martin T. Orne, M.D., Ph.D., now deceased, was Professor Emeritus of Psychiatry at the University of Pennsylvania. He
was Executive Director of the Institute for Experimental Psychiatry Research Foundation, Inc., and past president of the International Society of Hypnosis and the Society for Clinical and Experimental Hypnosis. Orne served as editor-in-chief of the International Journal of Clinical and Experimental Hypnosis from 1963 through 1992.
