Shingo Takahashi, M.D., Ph.D., is a director of the Japan Cult Recovery Council, founded in 1995. He studied cultural psychiatry in Honolulu (East-West Center) and religious psychopathology at Heidelberg University after completing his Ph.D. at the graduate school of Toho University. He has published five books on possession syndrome (Kitsunetsuki, i.e., fox-possession), magical healing, and psychopathy. He is also a criminologist and profiler for murder investigations.
