Shingo Takahashi, M.D., Ph.D., is a director of the Japan Cult Recovery
Council, founded in 1995. He studied cultural psychiatry in Honolulu (East-West
Center) and religious psychopathology at Heidelberg University after completing
his Ph.D. at the graduate school of Toho University. He has published five books
on possession syndrome (Kitsunetsuki, i.e., fox-possession), magical healing,
and psychopathy. He is also a criminologist and profiler for murder
investigations. He has written approximately 200 original papers in psychiatry
(regrettably, all in Japanese) and is a TV commentator on criminological and
psychological matters.
