Vanessa N. Weber, MSW.,
has a long history of
dealing with cult-related
issues both personally and
professionally. She is a
former member of a cultic
New Age Training group. In
1980 she co-founded and
directed an organization
which became the largest
chapter of a volunteer group
which helped people deal
with cult-related issues.
She is also one of the
co-founders of reFOCUS, a
national support network for
former cult members. Vanessa
received her BA from Barnard
College in Religion. She
studied Psychiatry and
Religion at Union
Theological Seminary and
received her MSW from
Yeshiva University. She has
published work in both the
fields of comparative
religion and mental health.
She is the founder and
Director of Post Adoption
Educational Services, a new
agency, that helps families
after they adopt. Vanessa
also sees individuals and
families around cult and
addiction related issues in
private practice. Vanessa
lives on the Connecticut
