The International Cultic Studies Association (ICSA), founded in 1979, in conjunction with Info-Cult/Info-Secte of Montreal, Osservatorio Nazionale Abusi Psicologici (ONAP), Sects, Religions, and Spirituality (SRS), and SOS-Abusi Psicologici, will conduct a two-day conference in Rome from 14:00 Saturday, September 18th to 17:30 Sunday, September 19, 2010.

Experts from Italy, other European countries, and North America will present on a variety of subjects, including the causes, nature of, and responses to individual, family, and societal harms associated with participation in highly manipulative groups. Speaker List.

The focus of the conference will be on practical issues aimed at helping former group members and family members of group-involved persons. Psychological, social, and legal considerations will also be examined. Agenda/Program.

Two tracks with similar content will be conducted, one in Italian and one in English.  Attendees may attend sessions in both languages

This conference should be of interest to all who are interested in the subject, but especially to families, former group members, mental health professionals, educators, and researchers.

Socials on Saturday and Sunday nights will provide attendees with an opportunity to talk informally with each other and with experts who are speaking.

The conference will take place at Carmelo Institute, a short distance from Ciampino Airport and 100 meters from the railway line into Rome’s Stazione Termini.

Lodging and meal costs are low at the Institute, which is a lovely facility with clean, spacious sleeping rooms, a swimming pool, and other amenities.

Transportation to Carmelo Institute.  List of nearby hotels for those preferring hotel accommodations.

Those who will not sleep at Carmelo Institute should select the "commuter" rate.

See FAX/MAIL registration form.
